  • Kwera
"Kwera is the outcome of the thesis that our Founder and CEO, Jimmy Scavenius (1976), wrote at an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2013.

In 2015, he quit his job as a corporate finance lawyer in Denmark, sold all his belongings and moved to Malawi, the warm heart of Africa. Following further research, he founded Kwera in 2017. Today, Kwera consists of a global, diverse team from eight different countries. They are all dedicated to making a difference for the youth in low and middle income countries.

'Kwera' means 'to climb' in Chichewa, Malawi's native language. We refer to our students as Student Climbers as we see education as a fundamental climb towards greater personal and professional growth."
