  Danish Uganda Friendship Association, DUFA, is a Danish civil society organisation. DUFA is an international association that works to promote intercultural understanding and cooperation between Danes and Ugandans. Members are both Danish and Ugandans living in Denmark. The association works both in Denmark and Uganda. • Nordic Embassies
  Nordic Sport Day 2023 Kampala
  The Nordic embassies in Uganda: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, invited us to Nordic Sport Day 2023 in Kampala. The Sport Day was held at the Rainbow International School in Kansanga, Kampala. An impressive, colourful and nice place. At checking in we received nice T-shirts sponsored by Stanbic Bank. We reported to the respective countries at the desk. All could participate in the various games: relay swim, basketball, petanque, relay run for children, relay run for women and men respectivively, relay run for children, footbal for children, football for adults, tug of war for children, tug of war for adults. 
  

  All activities counted, even 1 point for running or walking for your country aroud the football playground 4 times. Our family took part in most. I did the relay run for men, at 4 p.m. in the afternoon. Each person did 250 meters. Was it hot in Kampala at that hour? Yes it was. For the competition there was added counting from the various activities. Denmark won, followed by Sweden, Iceland and Norway.

  Africa is Europe’s closest neighbour. The ties that bind Africa and the European Union (EU) are broad and deep as a result of history, proximity and shared interests. With the 6th Summit between the African Union (AU) and the EU and the conclusion of the negotiations of the new partnership agreement between the EU and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States, 2020 will be a pivotal year in living up to our ambition of an even stronger partnership. In Africa, new prospects and challenges are emerging from economic, political, social, technological, demographic, climate and environmental changes.   I had the pleasure to meet with Danson Kahyana of PEN Uganda on the last day of November 2021, at the Jolly Court Hotel on Ggaba Road, Kampala.

  Also I met with  Beatrice Lamwaka. Beatrice Lamwaka is a member of Uganda PEN. Since I am a member of Danish PEN, we are both members of the same international organization, International PEN. Beatrice herself is a teacher of the English language and literature. She holds a degree in education and human rights from Makerere University. Beatrice also does editing, counselling, general workshops, etc.
